Upper back pain relief can come in many forms. Since the most common cause of upper back pain is from bad muscle tone, bad posture and general unhealthy habits, the cure and relief for most is simple.
Relief can be found in something as simple as rest. By placing a pillow between your legs when you lay on your side, your back will be supported and no stress or strain will be experiences by the back muscles.
Another very simple but effective method of relief from your upper back pain is the application of a cold pack. This will reduce the swelling caused by the inflamed muscles or irritated soft tissues. One precaution that should be taken is that the skin can be damaged from prolong exposure to a cold pack. A time limit of ½ an hour should be the limit of application of a cold pack. If swelling is still present, then a short period should be taken before another application of a cold pack be applied. The time need for the skin to non longer fell cold should be sufficient.
As with all pain that is associated with the inflammation of the body, an over the counter anti-inflammatory can be taken. The most common is Tylenol, but aspirin can also be used. Both of these medicines should be taken but the warnings understood. Tylenol has been shown to damage the liver if taken repeatedly and over a long period of time. Aspirin also has a warning that is could irritate the lining of the stomach. The taken of food before aspirin can minimize this risk. If long term use of an over the counter anti-inflammatory is needed then switch off between the two types is highly recommended.
For many people in the developed countries, the most common cause of pain is from toxic build up in their muscles. This is from not only bad eating habits and improper nutrition but also not enough exercise. Not only should this person change their diet to one with more vegetables and fruits but also a multi vitamin should be taken. The drinking of water should also be done. With so many individuals consuming an increasing amount of soft drinks instead of water, the body cannot properly flush itself of the toxins. Soft drinks do contain carbonated water, but this is not water. Instead of being a hydrant like most think it is, a soft drink actually dehydrates a person. This is the leading reason their bodies are retaining the toxins, no means of flushing them away.
Personally the best upper back pain relief can be found in not only exercising regularly and eating correctly but a visit to an acupuncturist. For most almost instant relief of not only upper back pain but most any pain.
