There are a wide variety of lower back pain causes that are due to the way your body was made. Before you can isolate the cause of your pain, you must first understand the lower back region of your body. How it functions and why it works the way it does.
The back is made up of bones called vertebra. These are stacked one on top of the other that forms your spinal column. This is referred to as the lumbar spine. In the middle of these discs is a channel where nerves are protected from outside pressure and forces. The discs are connected to each other with ligaments. Around the ligaments are the back muscles. This is the nerve distribution center of your body. The lower back muscles and vertebra are also the support focal point for all of your weight above the pelvis area.
In between your discs is a pad that cushions the contact each vertebra has with the one above and below it. As you grow older this cushion diminishes and is a source of lower back pain. This lower back pain causes you to slow down and at times prevents you from your normal activities. This is the time most people take real notice of their lower back.
Lower back pain causes not only an inconvenience but it also effects how your body will function. The aorta and blood vessels which are the means at which your lower body receives its fresh blood supply are located in front of the lower lumbar area. These are surrounded by your nerve tissues that control your bladder and bowel moments. If you’re lower back pain is severe enough to cause excessive swelling, pressure can be placed on this set of nerves and embarrassing accidents can occur. These can be avoided with the proper maintenance of your body including your lower back.
Proper exercise and the right fluids are essential to maintain a healthy body. Since you body is a system of independent parts that all function as one, each part must be in proper working order to operate efficiently.
The severity of your lower back pain causes different problems. If the lower back pain is due to a stretched or torn ligament then the swelling will be minor and not affect the surrounding tissue too severely. But your mobility will be hampered. Rest and relaxation will do wonders. Time will heal this if it is allowed to without putting any more undue stress on the ligament. The more sever the tear is, the longer the recovery time will be.
If your back pain is worse in the morning, you may have the onset of arthritis. This is common as we grow older. The lower back pain causes from this is from the inflammation of the tissues surrounding the lumbar area. The treatment is to reduce the inflammation. Unfortunately there is no cure for arthritis, just treatment.
Your lower back pain causes can be varied. The best thing to do is to exercise and eat properly before you investigate any extreme possibilities.
