A pain originating from your back that is persistent for over 6 months is classified as chronic back pain. There are different reasons for this type of chronic pain, but for the pain that originates from the muscle area, there are certain remedies that can be used to help alleviate the pain.

If the pain is from scoliosis, there is a specific type of exercise that reduces the amount of chronic back pain suffers feel, this is the Schroth method. This method was developed by a woman that had an abnormal spinal curvature that caused her constant pain. The method she developed used simple breathing exercises and exercises to help strengthen her back muscles. In time she actually corrected her spinal curve and lived an adult life free of chronic back pain.

The goal of these exercises it to realign the abnormal shifts that have occurred in your spinal column. This is done by forcing the body into the correct alignment then exercising the muscles by breathing. By forcing the body to get use to the correct alignment, in time it will naturally start to occur.

In more severe cases this breathing exercise should be done with the physical correction overstated to help speed up and correct the misalignment.

There is another breathing exercise that helps stop the body from returning to its abnormal rotation state. This is called the Schroth rotational-angular breathing exercise that help push out the rib cage from the inside to assist in the realignment process.

This is a very complex method to assist those with chronic back pain and only a brief overview has been explained. For more information a qualified physician should be consulted.

There is another unexpected source to help treat your chronic back pain. This is in the form of an anti depressant medicine. This treatment was started in 2007 under guidelines from the American College of Physicians and the American Pain Society. The specific type of antidepressant is the class Tricyclic antidepressants. This type of pain treatment has been clinically proven effective with neuralgia, neuropathic pain and fibromyalgia. This precise mechanism that is at work with this type of treatment is not fully understood, but the results are conclusive that it is effective.

Behavior therapy is another effective unusual way of helping you if your chronic back pain. This will help you correct your bad posture, sitting habits or just the way you move that puts unnecessary stress and strain on the back muscles. By having the right attitude makes a huge difference. If when sitting you should straighten your back so that it is stiff. Like when your teachers from grade school would instruct you to sit up and not slouch. This will do wonders to help you with chronic back pain. The theory is that good behavior will lead to good habits and the pain will be alleviated.
